The problems in India are mind boggling. A lot of them seem to have a common root;corruption. How to weed out corruption. Why are the corrupt more powerful or are the powerful always corrupt.

The situation in India gets complicated by the fact that we have a very large population of poor who are also illiterate and hence gullible. This segment is exploited by a few who weild power. The situation is particularly alarming in states like Bihar but not any better in a better off state like TN.

What needs to be done and how?

Should the approach be top down or bottoms up. Both have believers.

Well, obviously I do not have a readymade solution.
Well, the day I started writing weblogs all I could think of was the war on Iraq and hence a warring start.

Today, My daughter(4 1/2 years) made an interesting statement about how America has people from all over and in India you see only Indians. As our conversation proceeded I asked her if she can imagine going to school in India, to which she responded "I can't". I took that answer in a negative sense and said "Why not". So she said, "I can't, Appa, as I have not seen a school in India.". I laughed out loud. Her "I can't" was as innocent as it can be and it was my mind that decieved me".
