Taking on major grocery stores, they employ highly paid workers, the CEO's get a fat pay packet, their stores cost a lot to maintain and the prices are always significantly higher than neigbourhood family stores. So, when we were told the story that large corporations can leverage their buying power to get low prices, it was all so wrong.

Secondly these low caliber jobs paying decent salary and insurance, causes a lot of school/high school drop outs to lead an easy life, robbing from them the inclination to do something as this is the equivalent of easy money.
Whereas the educated/qualified people tend to be more enterprising.(Why?)

In India the situation is exactly opposite, low caliber jobs do not pay well and hence there are road side food vendors and independant veg sellers, cloth seller etc who do better then working for somebody. It essentially has created large class enterprenuers.

Whereas the educated class find jobs easily which also pays well and they have no inclination to do anything else other than cling to their jobs.
